School clearance

Has your school or college been accumulating unwanted stuff over the last few years? Have your school grounds been used as a dumping place for litter or been subject to fly-tipping? Maybe you’ve taken delivery of some new school furniture or equipment and you need the old items removing, or renovation work has left builder’s rubble behind. Whatever the cause, if you’re in need of a good clear-out, don’t go to the expense and trouble of hiring a skip and manhandling all the junk yourself. Simply call on a ‘man and a van’ team via Rubbish.com to take it all away for you.

We are fully aware that school budgets are always under pressure, so our teams guarantee the best possible prices for school rubbish clearance and bulky waste removal. Book an appointment, and our team will turn up on time, with a suitable vehicle (usually a tipper truck or a van), load up and go - your rubbish problems solved at a stroke. What’s more, unlike many clearance operators, our team will take away anything that you ask them to (unless it’s a prohibited item, see ‘what can’t we remove’ below), not just salvageable or saleable stuff.

What we can remove

We remove more or less any items that you would expect to see in a school environment:

School Furniture - chairs, desks, lockers, cupboards, bookcases, tables, easy chairs, sofas, whiteboards, blackboards, lab benches

Sports Equipment - goal posts and nets, tennis racquets and nets, cricket bats and pads, sports balls (all shapes and sizes), hockey sticks, gym fixtures

Electronics - computers and monitors, printers, modems, fax machines, photocopiers, televisions, electronic whiteboards

Electrical Items - vending and coffee machines, fridges, freezers, cookers (ovens and hobs), hot food servers

Hardware - kitchen equipment, crockery and glassware

Soft Furnishings - carpets and cushions, curtains and blinds

General Waste - garden waste, builder’s rubble, bulky waste, fly-tipping residues, litter, books, files, paper, glass and plastic

All we need you to do is to let us know exactly which items need to be removed, and no job is too small or large. We can handle anything from removal of a single item to a classroom or a whole school clearance, although for larger jobs we will usually need a bit of notice, so that we can ensure the team brings along a suitable vehicle.

What we can’t remove

Although our teams are willing to handle just about anything, there are some substances that are not covered by insurance or are contrary to health and safety rules. These include:

Toxic substances - for example, potentially harmful chemicals from a school laboratory or any material containing asbestos.

Flammable substances such as propane or butane cannisters.

Substances liable to cause a bio-hazard (such as medical or animal waste). In the unlikely event that any of these are present, our teams will be unable to handle them.

Waste carriers, nationwide coverage

Our network extends across the whole of the UK, but our members are all local, man with a van school clearance and rubbish removal teams. This enables the waste carriers to offer flexible pricing and a personal service combined with local knowledge. What our network does for you is to provide a consistently high standard of operation, regardless of where in the UK you are located. It’s a win/win situation for everyone.

All our members carry relevant insurance (both public and employee liability). This means that you (and they) are covered if anything goes wrong, and we are unable to resolve the issue. They are also licensed by the Environment Agency - this is essential in order to transport waste. You can deal with our teams in total confidence of getting the job done properly.

We are delighted to be able to say that of the thousands of items that our teams load up and take away every year, only around 10% goes to landfill. The other 90% is either immediately re-used, refurbished for re-use, or is put into the appropriate recycling stream. We can guarantee that if you ask our teams to remove something, it will never end up being fly-tipped or illegally disposed of.

Better than skip hire

There are many downsides to hiring a skip. For a start, a skip usually comes with a flat fee, regardless of how much (or how little) stuff is put into it. The waste itself needs to be collected and put into the skip - do you have the resources to do the work? If not, you may need to pay someone to do it. You may need a permit to site a skip, and do you really want one sitting on your car park or playground, taking up valuable space and looking unsightly? Another problem with skip hire is that people can see it as an opportunity to get rid of some of their own waste, and may fill it for you. This can land you in trouble, as all skip contents have to be assessed before disposal, and if any illegal items get put into your skip, even though you may not be aware it has happened, you will still be liable for it.

On the other hand, a ‘man with a van’ waste carrier will only need to park their vehicle on or near your school for as long as it takes to load it up - a much more efficient way of working. Our teams can work out cheaper than a skip too - they only charge for the rubbish they remove, no flat fees and no permits required.

Environmental responsibility

Our waste removal teams take their responsibility to the environment very seriously, and will always put in the effort to ensure that your waste is removed and disposed of correctly. It is this attention to detail which means we can be so proud of our record in avoiding the vast majority of waste going to landfill.

For the best possible school or college clearance and bulky waste removal services at the best prices (guaranteed), you can’t do better than engage with a waste carrier via Rubbish.com.
